single phone line

I've always had a separate phone line for my computer. Now that I've switched to Direcway for my isp, I have only the one phone line (to share with fax and phone). I have no idea how to configure the fax tools to share this single line in order to recieve faxes without my answering machine picking up.
I have a Lexmark X5150. I use the 5.08 version of the fax tools. I have XP with SP2.

I am not sure what you mean. Are you asking how to not have your answering machine pick up?
