To assist in answering your question in a timely manner, it is helpful to post the following information when you ask a question:

1. What version of our software are you using? This can typically be found by clicking Menu(s), Help, About <Product Name>.

2. What modem/phone are you using? What modem are you using?
- In Windows XP/2000: This can be found by clicking Start, Control Panel, Phone and Modem Options, Modems tab. Your modem name will be listed here.
- In Windows 98/Me: This can be found by clicking Start, Settings, Control Panel, Modems. Your modem name will be listed here.

3. What operating system are you using? E.g., Windows XP SP1, Windows 98 SE. This can normally be found by right-clicking 'My Computer' and left-clicking properties and it will be listed under the System section on the General tab.

4. Details of the issue including any error messages, e.g, "When I try to install it keeps stating 'Please insert disk 1'."

5. Scenarios under which the issue occurs, e.g., "I can normally send faxes, but cannot to the 310 area code."

6. How did you receive the software? E.g., received with a Dell A920 printer, received with a Dell Dimension 8400, received with a US Robotics Fax Win INT modem, purchased at www.bvrpusa.com, purchased a box at Fry's, etc...

7. Your e-mail address is also helpful should we need to send you a file or download link.

Sorry I didn't give you enough info to work with. I am using Fax tools version 5.03 which I received when I purchased my Lexmark P6250 printer. The modem is a SoftV92 Data fax modem and am using Microsof windows XP Professional version 2002. I have been able to send faxes without any problems however when I try and receive a fax I get the error message of transmission timeout. The modem seems to pick up the incoming call ok but for some reason it is timing out. My email address is jmrohl@bigpond.com.
Thanks for your help.

Regards Jocelyn

Try this first and see if it helps:

1. With all programs closed go to Start
2. Go to Control Panel
3. Go to Phone and Modem options (it might be under Printers and Other Hardware)
4. Go to the modem tab
5. Remove all modems listed there
6. Close everything and restart your computer (when windows comes back up it should reinstall the modem)
7. Once the modem is reinstalled Open Classic Phonetools
8. Go to configure in the bottom left
9. Go to General Setup or General Configuration
10. Go to the Communication Tab
11. Click on Change modem
12. Go through to Configuration wizard to reidentify the modem.
