Remote Modem Compatibility

I had Classic Phone Tools installed with Windows ME without problems. I upgraded to Windows XP Professional SP2 and upgraded to Classic Phone Tools Ver 5.01 and now when I try to fax I get the following message "Fine mode, Remote Modem Not Compatible. I also cannot receive a fax in Classic Phone Tools. I removed the Dell Data/Fax modem and reinstalled - No success. I have even tried to fax to another computer I have that contains Classic Phone Tools with Windows ME, again, no success. I received my original Classic Phone Tools with my Dell desktop computer and upgraded to 5.01 thereafter. Any help would be greatly appreciated. mikequ

If the modem is still installed as a Dell Data/Fax modem in XP then that is the issue. You will need to contact Dell and get your Modem drivers updated to the Specific XP drivers for it. Once you are on the correct modem drivers Classic Phonetools should be able to identify it.

MS, you were right, the driver was not updated. I can not believe that Windows XP Professional does not contain a driver for the Dell Data/Fax Modem, but it does not. Downloaded the correct driver from Dell and everything works great. Thank you very much for your help. Mikequ
