sneding a fax

Everytime I send a fax it goes straight into my outgoing box but does not send the fax. What do I need to do to send the fax correctly?

only other thing i know is that it keeps giving me a sound every 5 minutes or so. but still doesnt send


1. phone tools version 2.17D

2. 3com pci type 3b data fax modem

3. Windows xp

5. have not been able to send a fax for a few weeks now
modem works fine though

6. preloaded on dell inspiron 2200

1. With all programs closed go to Start
2. Go to Control Panel
3. Go to Phone and Modem options (it might be under Printers and Other Hardware)
4. Go to the modem tab
5. Remove all modems listed there
6. Close everything and restart your computer (when windows comes back up it should reinstall the modem)
7. Once the modem is reinstalled Open Classic Phonetools
8. Go to configure in the bottom left
9. Go to General Setup or General Configuration
10. Go to the Communication Tab
11. Click on Change modem
12. Go through to Configuration wizard to reidentify the modem.
