Remote modem not compatible - error Fax not sent. I've tried sending faxes to several different locations recently and continue to get this error. I can hear dialing and fax signals - and handshakes between my PC and their fax machines. I've up-dated driver - with your patch. I am running XP SP1 and Fax Tools that came with my Lexmark

1. With all programs closed go to Start
2. Go to Control Panel
3. Go to Phone and Modem options (it might be under Printers and Other Hardware)
4. Go to the modem tab
5. Remove all modems listed there
6. Close everything and restart your computer (when windows comes back up it should reinstall the modem)
7. Once the modem is reinstalled Open Faxtools
8. Go to configure in the bottom left
9. Go to General Setup or General Configuration
10. Go to the Communication Tab
11. Click on Change modem
12. Go through to Configuration wizard to reidentify the modem.

There is not a driver patch, I am not sure what you mean.

The first post for this topic wrote (in part): "I've up-dated driver - with your patch. I am running XP SP1 and Fax Tools that came with my Lexmark"

That's why I asked about is there some BVRP patch I need to try?

Or do I just proceed with the instructions you gave to that 1st post?

Thanks.

There is not a patch. Try uninstalling and reinstall the modem with the instructions above to see if that helps.

I've tried all the above suggestions - Removed modem - re-installed, etc. I still get remote modem not compatible. I am sending to modems and fax machines. I've tried numerous different fax machines, etc. I even tried downloading a trial BVRP update but it would not allow me to try without buy. But I am not going to do that if what I have doesn't work. I'm running windows XP and think that maybe the windows fax is somehow interfering. I'd Fax this info over to you...but you know how that goes

Which program are we talking about? Have you tried reisntalling the modem with the instructions above?

To assist in answering your question in a timely manner, it is helpful to post the following information when you ask a question:

1. What version of our software are you using? This can typically be found by clicking Menu(s), Help, About <Product Name>.

2. What modem/phone are you using? What modem are you using?
- In Windows XP/2000: This can be found by clicking Start, Control Panel, Phone and Modem Options, Modems tab. Your modem name will be listed here.
- In Windows 98/Me: This can be found by clicking Start, Settings, Control Panel, Modems. Your modem name will be listed here.

3. What operating system are you using? E.g., Windows XP SP1, Windows 98 SE. This can normally be found by right-clicking 'My Computer' and left-clicking properties and it will be listed under the System section on the General tab.

4. Details of the issue including any error messages, e.g, "When I try to install it keeps stating 'Please insert disk 1'."

5. Scenarios under which the issue occurs, e.g., "I can normally send faxes, but cannot to the 310 area code."

6. How did you receive the software? E.g., received with a Dell A920 printer, received with a Dell Dimension 8400, received with a US Robotics Fax Win INT modem, purchased at www.bvrpusa.com, purchased a box at Fry's, etc...

7. Your e-mail address is also helpful should we need to send you a file or download link.

I was getting the same error with certain fax machines. I changed the speed from Maximum to 9600. I also changed from Fax/Data mode to Fax only mode and was able to get the faxes to go thru.
