I'm running a V 1.04 with Windows Xp and my mobile phone is a Sony Ericsson z520a.
I've been trying to send a mp3 to my phone and when doing this it says that there is no bluetooth device detected. I'm not sure if it has to be physicaly attached to the computer using a cable. I just turned on BT on my phone and attempted. Can someone plx correct me?

What program are we talking about? How are you connecting the phone to the PC?

I get the same problem when trying to transfer a file to the phone.
RMS V1.04
Motorola V551
Kensington Bluetooth USB Adapter 2.0
When I look at services in My Bluetooth Places I see OBEX File Transfer on Motorola Phone.
Yet when I go to transfer a ring tone it shows no devices to select.

Are you pairing the phone with the computer, if the phone is not paired with the computer there is not a way to transfer to it.

I do not understand what you mean.
To assist in answering your question in a timely manner, it is helpful to post the following information when you ask a question:
1. What version of our software are you using? This can typically be found by clicking Menu(s), Help, About <Product Name>.
2. What phone are you using? How are you connecting it to the computer?
3. What operating system are you using? E.g., Windows XP SP1, Windows 98 SE. This can normally be found by right-clicking 'My Computer' and left-clicking properties and it will be listed under the System section on the General tab.
4. Details of the issue including any error messages, e.g, "When I try to install it keeps stating 'Please insert disk 1'."
5. Scenarios under which the issue occurs, e.g., "I can normally send faxes, but cannot to the 310 area code."
6. How did you receive the software? E.g., received with a Dell A920 printer, received with a Dell Dimension 8400, received with a US Robotics Fax Win INT modem, purchased at www.bvrpusa.com, purchased a box at Fry's, etc...
And what exactly is involved in "pairing" the PC & phone? What is the process one would go thru to "pair?"

Here are some generic instructions for that.
1. You need to make your phone discoverable - On many phones you do this by going through the phones menu, then selecting Settings, Connection, Bluetooth Link, Setup, you will then see Find Me highlighted on the menu, and make it discoverable for 60 seconds (These settings may vary by phone)
2. On your PC go to My Bluetooth Places and click View Devices in Range from the My Bluetooth Places window.
3. Devices in range will show up and you should see a your phone. Right-click on your phone and left-click Pair Device. On the screen you should be prompted to enter a PIN code to ensure a secure connection, enter a code you would like to use.
4. Your phone will now ask you if you would like to pair with the computer, select Yes, then Enter the PIN code you entered on your computer in step 3
