Hello, I have a 56Kbps Smart Link Modem, am running Windows XP Version 2002, and am using FaxTools 5.10 version.
I have included a calling card in my fax tools but when the modem attempts to dial it doesn't even complete the entire number before it receives a busy signal. Also, I am unclear on what to use for configuration; Windows Dialing or Fax Dialing??? thank you.

Here are the complete instructions for setting up a calling card.

1. Open PhoneTools/FaxTools
2. Click on Configure or Setup
3. Click on General Configuration or General Setup
4. Click the Location or Localization tab at the top
5. Make sure "Use Windows Dialing Properties" is selected
6. Click the Modify Button
7. Click on the New button
8. Type in "Calling Card" for the location name box
9. Put in your area code in the Area Code box
10. Click on the Calling Card Tab at the top.

Where to pick up step 11 depends on whether or not your calling card is or isn't in the list provided. Please follow the appropriate steps listed below.

My Calling Card is in the list of Calling Card provided.
11. Select your calling card from the list
12. Click on EDIT
13. Put in your account number and your PIN number
14. Click the "Long Distance" tab at the top
15. Make sure the "Calling Card Dialing Steps" are correct. If they aren't change them.
16. Then click Apply and Ok on that window.
17. Then click Apply and Ok on the Edit Location Window
18. Click Apply and Ok on the Phone and Modem Options Windows.
19. Make sure it shows "Calling Card" in the Use Windows Dialing Properties box
20. Then click OK
21. Now your Calling Card is setup and you just need to click on the Calling Card button in the Send Fax window whenever you want to use it.

My calling card is NOT in the list provided.
11. Since your Calling Card is not in the list you will need to click on the NEW button
12. Give your Calling Card a name
13. Enter your Account Number and your PIN number
14. Click the "Long Distance" tab at the top
15. Enter your Long Distance access number
16. Put in the sequence that you use your Calling Card, these steps must be perfect or it will not work.
17. Then click on Apply and then OK
18. Make sure your new calling card is the one selected in the list of Calling Cards
19. Click Apply and Ok
20. Click Apply and Ok on the Phone and Modem Options window
21. Make sure that "Calling Card" is showing in the Windows Dialing Properties box and then click Ok
22. Now your Calling Card is setup and you just need to click on the Calling Card button in the Send Fax window whenever you want to use it.

Are we talking about setting up a calling card like this thread is about? There are not any screen prints of the OEM Faxtools, only the Faxtools Expert.

To assist in answering your question in a timely manner, it is helpful to post the following information when you ask a question:

1. What version of our software are you using? This can typically be found by clicking Menu(s), Help, About <Product Name>.

2. What modem/phone are you using? What modem are you using?
- In Windows XP/2000: This can be found by clicking Start, Control Panel, Phone and Modem Options, Modems tab. Your modem name will be listed here.
- In Windows 98/Me: This can be found by clicking Start, Settings, Control Panel, Modems. Your modem name will be listed here.

3. What operating system are you using? E.g., Windows XP SP1, Windows 98 SE. This can normally be found by right-clicking 'My Computer' and left-clicking properties and it will be listed under the System section on the General tab.

4. Details of the issue including any error messages, e.g, "When I try to install it keeps stating 'Please insert disk 1'."

5. Scenarios under which the issue occurs, e.g., "I can normally send faxes, but cannot to the 310 area code."

6. How did you receive the software? E.g., received with a Dell A920 printer, received with a Dell Dimension 8400, received with a US Robotics Fax Win INT modem, purchased at www.bvrpusa.com, purchased a box at Fry's, etc...

7. Your e-mail address is also helpful should we need to send you a file or download link.
